Chip Warren

Chip Warren is a writer, filmmaker, and storyteller based in Budapest—a city he’s lived in twice, a quarter century apart.

His professional history is weird and defies categorization: commercial fisherman, winery manager, archaeologist, US State Department Cultural Envoy, and a few others he’d rather explain over a drink.

He is the author of With Love, Budapest, a love letter to the city and an ode to the struggles that plague us as we tend to our uncertain lives and troubled hearts. It’s a novel, too. He is directing a documentary, The Unfinished Legacy of Bullet Shih, about the power of art and the life of an oil painter he met at a beer garden.

He publishes two Substacks: Relevant Experience, a memoir of his working life, and Budapest Unscripted, an audio documentary about the experience of moving to Hungary and reinventing life at middle age.

He co-founded Roam because he believes authors need to stick together and that independent publishing should be fun.
